Helping the Community by Providing Quality Wheelchair Ramps

Portable Wheelchair Ramps for the CommunityEvery ramp we install improves the quality of life for someone in need.

American Ramp Systems has a long history of partnering with community members to help increase accessibility for the most vulnerable of our population. Our franchise partners work closely with organizations such as Rebuilding Together, the Salvation Army, Homes for Our Troops and NeighborWorks America, as well as with local programs in their respective areas.

For many years we have worked with Ramp Access Made Possible by Students (RAMPS), an organization dedicated to installing ramps for mobility-impaired citizens in Richmond, Virginia, in yearly Ramp-a-Thons. Last year we worked with RAMPS to install 17 ramps in one weekend.

This spring, we will be working with Lowe’s and Rebuilding Together to build ramps in the Denver, Colorado, area.

In 2005, we worked with Rebuilding Together in providing an estimated $100,000 worth of ramps to improve accessibility for the victims of Hurricane Katrina.

Last fall, in conjunction with the Yellow Ribbon Fund and by invitation from Mologne House, one of our franchise partners donated and installed two wheelchair ramps at Walter Reed Medical Center to make the courtyard readily accessible for the recuperating veterans. In California this March, we will be sponsoring a Family Fun Night for veterans of the Iraq and Afghanistan wars and their families, in conjunction with The Salvation Army.

In the Buffalo area, we are working with the NeighborWorks America program to provide ramps in the rural communities. We are currently working with a preeminent speaker and author on aging to sponsor a video on safety for seniors.
